What does it do?
This mod attempts to emulate city-building elements as in Caesar or SimCity games into 0 A.D., which emphasize building placements.
In city building games, player design residence zone, and citizens would come and go based on many factors like job availability and land quality. People love to live near beautiful place like parks and other houses, and hate to live near undesirable locations like barracks or docks. These are the elements that I'd like to emulate in this mod. Every building has certain aura that affects other buildings near it, and in some cases the units near it. These are the changes that have been implemented:
- Population: House population increases and decreases based on building nearby. Civic buildings adds more population room to nearby houses. Military and dropsite buildings decreased population instead. Every building costs one population
- Production: Blacksmith will increase performance of nearby military buildings by cutting batch training time. House itself also boosts nearby workers build and gather speed.
- Infrastructure: As roads are not implemented in 0 A.D., it is simulated by increased unit movement speed near city center.
This mod is not meant to change gameplay drastically, but simply to reward players who place building carefully. This mod encourages player to place building where it make sense like in real life. Houses should be near civil center, and as far away from military bases. Sometimes there are some compromise to be made, like building house next to barracks. House population will be decreased, but barrack training will be faster. This might be ideal in certain situations.
